Making Valentine’s Day

Zoey’s missing her mama and wants to send her something really nice for Valentine’s Day. She and aunt JaChelle tried six projects before finding the right one.

Oh, my Aunt JaChelle and I create six different projects for Valentine’s Day. I wanted to send mama something nice because I haven’t been calling her as much. We made everything from a photo frame to a pillow. On our call this week, I showed her everything we made and told her to watch for something in the mail.

1. Heart-Shaped Puzzles

Our first project was simple. Aunt JaChelle opened a drawer in her office to get the materials: pink paper, a marker, and scissors. She made ten hearts in two sizes, then wrote on them and cut them to be like puzzle pieces. It’s so fun to play with the pieces.

2. Photo frame

While running errands, we picked up some heart-shaped foamies for our next project.

  • Pink Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Heart-shaped foam
  • A photo

3. Love you to pieces

Aunt J found an old photo and cut it up to be a puzzle too. We agreed mama would love this. I took a cute Valentine’s Day picture and made it into a puzzle.

4. Cuddle Crew

I love cuddling on the couch with ma. Aunt JaChelle had some scrap fabric around the house, so we made Valentine’s Day inspired pillow. I’m going to add smell goods to it, so mama will think of me when she holds it.

5. Love in color

Aunt J had all these broken crayons in a bucket. We decided to try to melt them into heart-shaped crayons. This project didn’t turn out as we planned, but it was fun, and I got to use wax paper.

6. It’s Hair Love x a Hoodie

I think the hoodie Aunt J remixed with satin-lining is so cool, and I want one too. She surprised me with this pink hoodie and let me help design the iron-on and schooled me on how to make a bobbin on the sewing machine.
