I was excited to receive an autographed copy of “Sofia Valdez, Future Prez” authored by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts.
Meet Sofia Valdez, Future Prez! Every morning, Abuelo walks Sofia to school . . . until one day, when Abuelo hurts his ankle at a local landfill, he can no longer do so. Sofia misses her Abuelo and wonders what she can do about the dangerous Mount Trashmore. Then she gets an idea—the town can turn the slimy mess into a park!

Aunt JaChelle wanted us to travel to Washington D.C. for the book event at Politics and Prose Bookstore, but it was not possible. Instead of being disappointed that we couldn’t go, Aunt JaChelle ordered a signed copy of the book and we eagerly tracked the package. The book made five stops before being delivered to our home. Auntie J decided to make me my own map series.
After reading Sofia Valdez, Future Prez and seeing all the “Love Pittsburgh Parks” signs, I started thinking about our local election. Aunt JaChelle is also looking forward to the new downloadables for Sofia Valdez, Future Prez that will be available on The Questioneers website. You can download posters (like the image to right), social graphics, and activities via the website. There is also an activity generator for educators.
We also decided to plan a trip to Washington D.C. during the cherry blossom season to see the beautiful trees and hopefully visit a few museums.
